I had a 127DF that behaved just like that but was only intermittent. Plane would roll violently but then would quickly recover. Finally it happened during a preflight so I was able to reproduce it and nail down the problem.

Had nothing to do with the receiver. I discovered that the white wire leading into the servo was broken right where it was soldered onto the pc board of the servo. Vibration or tugging caused the servo signal to come and go. Once I re-soldered the wire back onto the pc board, I had no more glitches. These glitches had been bothering me for a long time and in retrospect explained a previously unexplained crash that totaled a Four Star 40 on about its 3rd flight.
